Everyone starts somewhere when it comes to their fitness levels. No one was born with muscles, a complete knowledge of the gym and more than just the "basics" of fitness. EVERYONE was a beginner! Remember that when you get started. Don't assume that a week after you start weightlifting that you should be able to bench press as much as Joe Schmo who has been lifting for 5 years!
Because there isn't this inherent knowledge of what to do at the gym; it's good to consult someone. In today's day and age of social media, it is extremely easy to "find" someone to help expand your knowledge of fitness. In my case, it came in the form of Jenna Fail on Instagram.
I was an avid follower of hers last summer (2015). Finally, I got the guts to reach out to her, followed by joining her team (#TeamFail).
Best. Decision. EVER!
In my case, I was a high school and college athlete, married to the same. But yet I never had a training schedule. After my college days, my gym sessions consisted of cardio - using the machines everyone knew how to use - and ab circuits. So, while I have an athletic background, I was still very much a beginner when it came to weightlifting.
I've mentioned this before on multiple occasions. When I first got on Jenna's team and she sent me my 5-day training split schedule, I Googled every single one of my workout exercises. To add to it, I included a picture of what the exercise was on the back of my workout sheet so I wouldn't have to pull out my phone every few minutes while at the gym. I wanted to be as prepared as possible when I stepped foot into the gym. I didn't want anything out there to be a possible "excuse" for not completing my training session.
Once I admitted I was beginner, sought help from Jenna to help execute a plan that would lead to my personal fitness improvement, I was on my way from moving past the beginner stage.
So, let's say YOU'RE a beginner....now what?!
For me, I joined #TeamFail and got on a personal training plan and meal plan direct from Jenna. I told her my limitations such as past knee surgeries, and she wrote out a plan specific to me. And, if I ever wanted to change anything, all I had to do was ask! Joining her team was by far the best decision I've made in my athletic/fitness life.
If you're serious about fitness and want to move past the unfavorable beginner stage, head on over to www.mytransphormationstartstoday.com and request Jenna Fail as a trainer. By going to that website, you will see that it is a year long transformation challenge that anyone can join at any time. Once you join, you will see that they have provided all the tools you need for YOUR success - coaches, nutrition, workout, supplement information and more!
Yes, I joined two months ago and I was 24 weeks pregnant when I joined. Not all transformations are about losing weight. It's about a lifestyle change, which I am 100% committed to doing!
I am VERY excited to expand the fitness section on my blog. I have some new resources (aka fitness books I bought) and am not only excited to learn more about muscles, exercises, strength training and more, but I am just as excited to share this new knowledge with you all too!
If you're reading this and you are a beginner, fret not, EVERYONE starts somewhere! I was a beginner last year and I finally feel comfortable saying that I have improved from beginner to intermediate. YAY me! If I can do it, SO can YOU!
Hi there! I'm Kara, of taking KARA myself! I've dabbled in blogging off and on for a while now. Mostly off. But I'm trying to change that and make a dent in this side of the world wide web. Enjoy!
