An hour drive might not seem like much, but when it comes to making the trek out to Ft. Worth, we don't do it that often. And, whenever we do, sentimentality hits since that's where we got married! In July 2014, we chose to get married at a One Stop Wedding Shop. It was amazing, and right up our alley at a whopping $150. After all, we were saving for the honeymoon/trip of a lifetime in Hawaii.
We originally were headed out to Ft. Worth this weekend for our weekly picture update to be taken where there was a big chair and boots. I found it on this website, Roadside America. However, after driving around the supposed location of the chair and boots for half an hour, we couldn't find it. So we decided to go grab some lunch and regroup.
While at lunch we decided since we were in Ft. Worth we needed to go to the Stockyards! A fun time is always had at the Stockyards since you never know what you will see - trains, cowboys, steer, carriages...the list can go on!
Below is our 28 week picture update in front of the Stockyards Station sign with the train backing in (pretty cool to see!).
Side Note - if you are in Ft. Worth and want to try the BEST EVER key lime pie, go to The Dive Oyster Bar. And, if you are in Ft. Worth or even want to order the BEST EVER coffee online, do so here. We bought the Texas Bluebonnet and are not going to be drinking any other coffee for quite some time!
My husband and I decided that we wanted to start trying to have a baby in September 2015. We immediately scheduled an appointment with a doctor that works at a commercial association he manages. So bonus is that he knows our doctor! In that initial appointment he went through a bunch of information with us, and told us to call him either when we got pregnant or if it was taking around a year, that we should give him a call.
We had our first appointment scheduled on December 31st when we were 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant! It was at that appointment that we got into more details about what I could and could not do during my pregnancy. Below are a few rules my doctor set in place, and some that I have put in place now that I am in the middle of my pregnancy.
Several years ago, my husband hated to go to the gym with me. Why? Well, to be honest with you, I was kind of a brat. Why? I wasn't confident in what I was doing, and that made me feel crazy uncomfortable. Here I was dating (now married) to a guy that had grown up in the gym through his many years of football, both high school and collegiate. If you asked him what he hated the most about going to the gym with me? It was probably my attitude towards squats. I felt like my body was not meant to do squats. Think of someone who looks like they are awkwardly about to fall over, but you can't tell if they are going to fall forward or backward. Yes, that was me.
Well, fast forward to now, and I can say I am 100% more confident in going to the gym than I ever was back then; and my what a great feeling that is! (Shout Out: Thank you Jenna Fail for helping with that!!!)
In learning all sorts of exercises for chest, back & bi, delts and legs, my absolute favorite day is back & bi. More specifically, my two favorite exercises are lat pulldowns and low cable rows. I could do those every day!
If you know me, you know I can be super organized. I have to make a workout sheet for reference when at the gym. I need order when it comes to my workouts, and I haven't found an app that I really like. That and my memory isn't great to remember 5 different days of workouts. So, I made these nifty workout sheets in Microsoft Excel, and absolutely love them. Not only do they help me stay on track through my time at the gym, but it also helps me compare the same workout from the previous week. That way I can easily gauge my progress from week to week.
If you would like a copy of this in the Microsoft Excel version that you can edit to make your own, go to my About > Contact page and shoot me a message. I'd love to hear from you and help you out!
What ways do you keep track of your workouts?
Disclaimer: Yes, I am 6.5 months pregnant. However, I have adjusted my workouts, and am not focused on high weights. I am focused on maintaining a workout regimen. And, I am listening to my body. I am not continuing an exercise, or even a day at the gym, if my body is saying no. :)
When I think of pancakes, I think of flour & sugar & maybe even some ricotta cheese. When combined together they can make some delicious pancakes, but not the least bit healthy for you.
However, when I joined #TeamFail last year, I was introduced to some bomb pancakes that had three simple ingredients! You ready for these healthy, delicious and amazingly simple pancakes?
Now here we are thinking about childcare. Crazy to think how much has changed in one year. Just recently Dustin and I visited our first possible childcare location for Mark. In going through this process, we have realized this is not an easy decision. There are so many factors going into our decision of where to send Mark. Collectively we are taking between 10-12 weeks off after I give birth. So we have roughly until November before he is going to start attending, but just as this pregnancy is flying by, I'm sure November will be here before we know it.
Below are some of the pros and cons of our first visit.
Hi there! I'm Kara, of taking KARA myself! I've dabbled in blogging off and on for a while now. Mostly off. But I'm trying to change that and make a dent in this side of the world wide web. Enjoy!
