Two weeks ago Dustin and I moved to a bigger apartment, in preparation of Mark making his debut. And...drumroll.......We now have a nursery! Well, the beginning signs of a nursery. Up until today, there were boxes stacked, cute little clothes laying everywhere, and a bunch of miscellaneous baby stuff all over the place in Mark's room. While we have time before August to make sure his entire area is in order, we wanted to get a jump start on all the organizing!
Dustin was itching to put together some baby stuff, so we went to Ikea, only the best place to find anything and everything you could want or need...or, let's be honest, everything you don't need!
While we went in originally looking for a dresser or two, we instead found a changing table, crib and mattress. All for really great prices.
Not only are Dustin and I trying to make the most of our last several months of "just us" together, but we are having an absolute blast finding the perfect picture location for my weekly Saturday updates! I started using the Baby Pics App at week 15. This app allows you to use your own picture and it will put the weekly artwork on the picture for you. You can then edit the style of the photo and the font of the artwork. For the first few weeks it was very boring --- stand in front of the apartment door, snap a picture, and we're done.
But then a couple weeks ago Dustin surprised me by visiting a little Podunk town on the outskirts of DFW where we had breakfast. Then on our scenic drive back we stopped on the side of the road to snap week 18's picture. It was then that it started. The weekly quest to find the perfect location for my weekly update.
I turn 29 in June and have moved a whopping 10 times...and that is just since I moved out of the house to go to college in Jacksonville, Florida. The number is more than doubled if I count all the moves I made with my family growing up. Let's just say I hate moving! Friends always say they will help you move, and then bail last minute. I have since passed on dependable friends when it comes to moving. But who am I kidding, I wouldn't want to help anyone else move either, so no hard feelings. Moving SUCKS!
One time Dustin and I and a former roommate in Jacksonville hired movers to help us from a 2nd story to a 2nd story. However, we were completely unprepared come the day of the move. Barely everything was packed, and there was absolutely no organization to speak of. Since that one time hiring movers, D and I have moved 3 other times between Jacksonville, Dallas and Plano. This time though, we decided to do it right.
How you ask? It's easy. See my two step process below for how this move will be our easiest, breeziest yet!
Dustin and I discuss, quite frequently, how blessed we are with each of our families. Not only are our individual families amazing, but the fact that our families have become friends over the course of our 6.5 year relationship is pretty darn amazing. Especially after reading some horrible posts on the What to Expect app about how these couples detest their in-laws. We cannot imagine.
Our moms were gracious enough to handle the planning of our baby shower in Florida. Dustin and I picked the date, and our moms just ran with it. It was way better than I could've imagined!
Below are some pictures from our shower. It was a whirlwind trip flying to Florida and then driving our car back, but it was worth it to spend some great quality time with our families.
Through the countless number of articles I have read on what to do before the baby, they all have one thing in common - enjoy your last few months alone together.
Thankfully that is quite easy for us to do, as it is just Dustin and I out in Texas. We are both Florida born and raised, but transplants to Texas in October 2012, Regardless of the fact that we already spend most of our time together, we have decided that for the next 22(ish) weeks, depending on when Mark makes his world debut, we are going to put an extra special touch on enjoying our weekends.
Hi there! I'm Kara, of taking KARA myself! I've dabbled in blogging off and on for a while now. Mostly off. But I'm trying to change that and make a dent in this side of the world wide web. Enjoy!
